Keeping your rates fresh
Paint, labour, and material costs drift over time. Surfacely keeps an eye on when you last reviewed each part of your pricing and gives you a gentle heads-up when it's getting old — so you don't quote a fresh job on stale numbers.
The stale-rates nudge
You'll see it as a pill on your dashboard and as a banner on the estimate builder and the proposal-review screen. It appears when a pricing section hasn't been reviewed in about 90 days, or hasn't been set at all. It's a prompt, not a block — you can keep quoting either way.
Confirming your rates
If your pricing is still right, you don't have to change anything — just confirm it's current. There's a one-tap confirm in Settings → Business Settings → Labour and from the notification drawer. That resets the clock and clears the nudge. If costs have moved, that's your cue to update the rate first.
New businesses aren't nagged
A brand-new account that's still finding its feet won't get these prompts — they only kick in once you're actually running jobs, so a fresh setup isn't pestered before it's had a chance to settle.
Why it matters: the quiet way to lose margin is to keep quoting last year's costs into this year's jobs. A 90-day check-in is enough to catch the drift without turning pricing into a chore.
