Quote terms and conditions
Every quote ends with a terms and conditions section — the small print that says who pays what, by when, and what happens if something goes wrong. Surfacely ships baseline T&Cs tuned for your locale, which you can customise in Settings → Terms & Conditions.
What's covered in the baseline
- Validity period of the quote
- Payment terms (deposit, progress, balance)
- Materials and workmanship guarantees
- Exclusions (weather delays, client-supplied paint, etc.)
- GST treatment — shown as inclusive or exclusive as appropriate
- Variations policy
- Locale-specific statutory requirements (e.g. cooling-off periods for residential consumer quotes in some markets)
How the locale tuning works
If your business is in Australia, your T&Cs include GST-inclusive language, Australian Consumer Law references, and the correct statutory warranty text. Switch country to the UK and you get VAT language, UK consumer rights, and the statutory 14-day cooling-off period for residential B2C work. Same for the US, NZ, and Canada.
Snapshot at send time
When you send a quote, the current T&Cs are snapshotted into that specific quote doc. If you update your terms six months later, already-sent quotes are unaffected. This is both legally correct (the client accepted what was in front of them) and practically helpful (you can keep improving your terms without worrying about retroactive effect).
Why it matters: T&Cs are the cheapest insurance a painter can buy. Disputes over "what was included" or "when payment is due" collapse fast when there's a signed document with clear terms. Surfacely gives you that document on every quote, without you ever having to write legal copy.
