Converting a lead into an active project
A lead is a potential job sitting at the top of your pipeline. It has a client, a property address, and what they want done — but no measuring or quoting yet. Converting it into a project is a single action.
Where leads come from
- Lead widget — someone fills in your enquiry form online. A lead is created automatically.
- Manual entry — you're on the phone with a potential client. Tap New project → Lead to create one from scratch.
Reviewing a lead
Leads live on the Projects page, which groups everything by what needs you — fresh leads surface under Needs attention, and quieter ones sit in Pipeline. Open a lead to see the contact details, property address, what they've described, and any photos they uploaded. This is your first qualification step — is the job worth pursuing?
Converting to an active project
- Open the lead from your pipeline
- Tap Convert to project
- Choose the project type — Repaint or New Build
- Surfacely creates the client, site, and building automatically using the lead data
- The project moves to Measuring status and you're ready to measure
If you decide not to proceed
Move the project status to Lost. This removes it from your active pipeline but keeps the record. You can always come back to it, and it counts in your historical data.
Why the pipeline view matters: when all leads are in Surfacely, you can see at a glance how many are waiting, how many are being quoted, and how much revenue is potentially in play. That visibility is what turns scattered enquiries into a list you actually work through.
Tip: respond to leads within a few hours. Homeowners typically get 3+ quotes — the painter who calls back first usually gets the job. Having the lead already in Surfacely means you can call, confirm the visit, and move them forward in the pipeline without any re-entry.
